Jason Silva is one optimistic guy.
Best known for the Current TV show he cohosts with his charismatic compadre Max Lugavere, Silva has gained increasing notoriety over the past few years as a passionate transhumanist—someone who believes that the key to humanity’s continued evolution is going to be found through technological means. In every podcast and video that he’s featured in, he always strikes me as being one of the most likable, entertaining, and down-to-earth characters in the whole techno-futurist scene.
Now, in a new video from Big Think, he reveals the true source of his perpetually bright-eyed optimism and evolutionary joie de vivre: self-created, self-reinforcing feedback loops of connections with like-minded souls that keep him locked in a vortex of creative positivity and inspiration. But the real function of such networks and relationships, he says, is to stack the cards of reality in our favor, using the “dizzying” amount of personal freedom we each have to consciously coauthor the trajectory of our own lives.
